DAY 1 Arrive to Athens, Greece
Welcome to Athens! Meet your traveling companion in the Airport of Athens. Drive to the Hotel. Dinner and overnight in Athens.
DAY 2 Athens
Sightseeing with a local guide and visit of the Acropolis, the Erechtheum, the Theseum, Roman temple dedicated to Zeus, theater of Dionysus, and the Agora where Socrates taught. Our guide will point out the main ancient and modern sites including Hadrian’s arch, the statue of Lord Byron, Constitution Square and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Our tour continues passing the National Gardens, the Panathenaic Stadium, the Academy, the University and the National Library. Optional lunch in Plaka, break for shopping. Optional dinner down-town with traditional folklore show. Dinner and overnight in Athens.
DAY 3 Athens–Corinth–Mycenae–Epidaurus–Tolo
Drive through the Corinth Canal passing outside of the Ancient Corinth, where St. Paul preached. The tour continues with a visit of the Archaeological Site and the Museum of Mycenae to admire the Beehive Tombs, the Treasury of Atreus and the Lion Gate. Short drive to Epidaurus for a tour of it's 2,300-year-old open-air theater. Dinner and overnight in Tolo.
DAY 4 Tolo–Olympia
Drive through the Arkadian Mountains on the way to Olympia, where the original Olympic Games began. Walk among the impressive remains of the Gymnasium and the Temples of Hera and Zeus. Also visit the Museum and the Praxiteles’ statue of Hermes. Dinner and overnight in Olympia.
DAY 5 Olympia–Delphi
Through the new bridge of Rion-Antirion, the tour continues to Delphi where the ancient sanctuary of the god Apollo is. Visit of the Archaeological Site and the Museum to admire the Charioteer. Dinner and overnight in Delphi.
DAY 6 Delphi–Meteora Area
Drive to Kalambaka with the fantastic landscape of Meteora with its 24 rock-top monasteries. Visit of the Varlaam Monastery and St. Stephen's Monastery with an incredible panoramic view. Dinner and overnight in Kalambaka.
DAY 7 Meteora Area–Thermopylae–Athens
Guided visit to Thermopylae, the site of the heroic battle of Leonidas’ 300 Spartans against Xerxes’ Persian army. On the way back to Athens, you will be informed about Thebes, the setting of Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex, and Marathon. Dinner and overnight in Athens.
DAY 8 Athens
After the breakfast transfer to the Airport of Athens and departure.
